FAVORITES: MINNEOTA VIKINGS and the WABASSO/RED ROCK CENTRAL BOBOCATS
The Vikings of Minneota have back from their state runner up team and 25-6 campaign a great deal of experience. They have back six state qualifiers, two were state place winners. Also three section place winners and three others with a lot of experience. So despite the graduation of five very good seniors including two state place winners they should again be considered a favorite to repeat as section champions. Look for them to make a strong challenge for section, state and conference honors. Adam Josephson, Josh VanOverbeke, Alex Lessman, Andrew Swedzinski, Alec Engler to be their key leaders thru out the season.
The Bobcats of Wabasso/Red Rock Central have back from a 24-2 and fifth place in AA campaign several outstanding wresters. They have four state qualifiers, five section place winners and two others with a great deal of experience returning. Despite the graduation of seven seniors including five section place winners, they will be a major force to be dealt with by season's end. They should make a strong challenge for section, state and conference honors. Cody Welch, Brandon Goblirsch, Tanner Rohlik and Mitchell Rohlik to be their key leaders thru out the season.
DARK HORSES: KERKHOVEN-MURDOCK-SUNBURG FIGHTING SAINTS and the PIPESTONE AREA ARROWS
The Fighting Saints of Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg have back from a 14-2 and section runner campaign lot of talented wrestlers. They have three state qualifiers, four section place winners and seven others with a great deal of experience. So despite the graduation of six very good wrestlers including five section place winners, look for the Fighting Saints to make great improvement over the season. If they stay healthy they should make a strong challenge for both section and conference honors. Jordan Rothers, Jordan Engler, Cody Peters and Jessie Engler to be their key leaders thru out the season.
The Arrows of Pipestone Area have back from a 22-4 campaign seven section place winners and eight others with a great deal of experience. So despite the graduation of six seniors including four state tourney wrestlers look for the Arrows to have a very strong season. They should challenge for a top four spot in this section dual meet campaign. Matt Haroldson, Brady Bos, Alex Ossefoort and Walker Kor should be their key leaders thru out the season.
Look for the Canby Lancers and the BOLD Warriors to both challenge for a top four spot in this dual meet campaign. There are four state medal winners back from last season that includes: Adam Josephson and Josh VanOverbeck of Minneota, Cody Welch and Tanner Rohlik of Wabasso/Red Rock Central. There are a total of thirteen state qualifiers from last year's state tourney action. Those not mentioned above are: Brady Zitzman of BOLD and Morgan Staton of Benson.
Look for the following wrestlers: Isaac Josephson, Travis Longtin and Nicholas Esping of Minneota, Nathan Mattison, Spencer Jenniges, Mitchell Schroepfer and Blake Altermatt of Wabasso/Red Rock Central, Kyle Baker, Zach Carlson and Isaac Froehlich of Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg, Cedric Citrowske, David Bursack, John Deslauriers and Nick Stoks of Canby, Cole Nordmeyer, Nathan Dubbelde and Elijah Everson of Pipestone Area, Brett Grund of BOLD, Evan Knudson, Ethan Ator and Holdyn Sand of Yellow Medicine East, Bryce Goff and Ben Lundebrek of Benson, Brent Jaenisch, Jason Mertens and Tanner Bedel and Trevor Fagen of Renville County West/MACCRAY to challenge for medals at the end of the season.
